If you are using different cables for each laptap then something I have run into a few times could possibly be your problem. Some of the early HDMI cables did not have the audio portion connected so you had to use a separate cable for audio. If you are using separate cables then switch cables and see if it begins working. If it does then replace the cable that was in use when it was not working. I had a similar problem with my 2 year old HP laptop. So naturally I assumed that the problem must be in the TV since the cable used was the same.

I called Visio and accidentally selected the computer service people and the gal said she could probably fix the problem. She walked me through the computer settings and sure enough the sound worked on the new Visio. However nobody could figure out why it worked on the other TVs before.

I've since updated to an Internet ready Panasonic 75" LED TV and now I can watch my favorite ball team since we retired and moved far away, without the need for a computer. Now the only problem is that some commercials lock up the TV. Can't win them all. If I do nothing I get the sound on the pc. Find Playback or just search in that area.
